BODFest Hits New Heights

Saturday November 16th 2019 saw BOD make a triumphant return to the Queens Hall in Cuckfield.

It is hoped that the BODFest will be the first of many festivals which has grown from BOD’s own annual extravaganza. The next is due on Saturday November 21st 2020 and is likely to be even bigger and better than before.

The Fest included 3 bands and one DJ.

  • Living Lies – 4 piece band of current and former Warden Park students – Annabel Burton (Singer), Holly Townsend (Bass), Tom George (Lead Guitar) and Dylan Woods (Drums) playing a mixture of their own music and covers. They set the pace of the show with a very polished set and Annabel in particular owning the stage with her own style.

  • BOD Second Chapter – Mike, Olly, Ruth. Ian and Dan from the Crawley and East Grinstead area. They built the high tempo event with an even rockier delivery of the BOD first set. Who could have believed it was their first gig together?

  • BOD – George, Jez, Ben, Martin, Will, Mike and Alex. The original Cuckfield Chapter had lots to live up to. We also had a new singer Kate Hagen and our very own Elvis, Ian. Another Ian played bagpipes for us in our rendition of AC/DC’s “It’s a long way to the top”.

If you thought it was already electric, the crowd went into overdrive for an adrenaline-fuelled set.

Everyone has become used to expecting the unexpected from BOD but Kate’s renditions of Valerie, Atomic and Just Like A Pill were all truly memorable. Who would have though it, Kate in a Band of Dads? What next? Watch this space……..

The continuity in the music the show was Missy G, our very own DJ (Grace Budd) who played from 7.30pm until the headliners BOD came on at just before 10pm for their 75 minutes of fun and action.

£2.5k was raised in total which will go towards a mix of both local and national charities.

The Queens Hall was rocking with a capacity crowd. Many danced the night away in the mosh. With new bands came new audiences, all of whom appreciated the variety and professionalism of all the acts. Everyone stayed until the end when a group effort quickly transformed the hall back to normal from Cuckfield’s very own electric ballroom.

The 6-team bar staff were constantly busy throughout the night with lots of other wives and friends helping to make the evening such a success. We even had our own sponsor Brighton Bier supplying two barrels of their finest to help the evening go with a swing.

The crowd all went away happy. The format and the quality of the three bands all contributed to a huge success.
