Great Gig shame about the Van in pictures..

Right so we were invited to play at the Downs Hotel in Woodingdean which we accepted and started to plan.

As a bit of a treat and to make us feel like real rockers we hired a van to transport our equipment. The logic here was to enable us to easier get there have a few beers. Then get cabs home and pick up the gear in the van in the morning. So we hired a Van from Avis in Crawley which was the cheapest van we could find. We got the latest Transit and all was good.

We turned up early set up and sampled the excellent food at the Downs Hotel. All the time while getting stuck into our beer tab. We then performed a well received show to an enthusiastic although not massive audience.

All was good with the world until we started packing up… Jez asks for the key to the van to get his jumper (so rock n roll) and proceeds to get his jumper and lock the only keys into the back of the Transit Van!!!

So we go back in the morning to load the kit up and have to call Avis who call the AA who very promptly come out to us to break into the Van. While we were waiting Mike and I sampled the excellent cooked breakfast at the Downs Hotel.

The AA turn up promptly and proceed to try and get into the van for the next TWO HOURS and can’t get in as the new Transit Security Software is so good.

Nice AA man trying to help us get into the van.

So in the end we have to leave the Van and load the equipment into cars in any case…

Just fitting it all in..

So the Saga continues with me having to visit Avis in Crawley twice in the next week. The key is kept at Avis HQ so had to be ordered and the Van wasn’t sorted out until the next Friday. Avis in fairness were really good and we only got charged an extra £80. Although we did persist with winding Jez up that it was £1250 for a day or two as punishment….
